TAKEN ROLES
A breakdown of taken roles and families in Hemlock Park
CAVENDISH FAMILY
*WILLIAM CAVENDISH (deceased)
AGE: 63 FC: Ralph Fiennes The Duke of Devonshire, a title that has for centuries produced some of the most powerful men in England, a fact that he is all too aware of. A serious man, not prone to joking or indulging himself at events, and who accepts nothing less than perfection despite hardly being perfect himself. His children are not so much there to be a family as they are to be insurance of his legacy. It was his wife that took an interest in their rearing, never William. Though perhaps being ignored is better than facing his wrath for stepping out of line. Socially, and most famously he is known for the Ménage à Trois, consisting of the Duke, his socialite wife Georgiana, and his long time mistress Bess Foster. His marriage was never a blissful one, and he often looked to other women to make up for the failures of a near barren wife. There is much that a man of his power and stature can get away with, but how long before the choices his past catch up with him? THOMAS CAVENDISH
AGE:27 FC: Henry Cavill As the eldest son to the current Duke of Devonshire, Thomas grew up with the nickname, "little Duke", for his destiny to take on his father's title had been decided for him before he was even born. Thomas is known to be quite the charmer, especially with the ladies, and very smooth with his words. Quite a popular fellow, Thomas is often found with his band of friends enjoying themselves over drinks at the parties or laughing together in the parlors of their homes. An avid hunter, one of his favorites is hosting his annual hunting party at the Cavendish lodge. When not with his friends, Thomas spends a good deal of time with his siblings, Cordelia and Henry. Though at times it feels like Thomas and Henry are put against one another in competition, the two get along quite well for the most part. Both brothers are very protective over their sister. Though the future Duke enjoys his drinks and partying, he is also quite serious when it comes to business. With the close relationship he has with his father Thomas woks by his father's side and has been learning or years what he will be responsible for when the times comes. One of the most eligible bachelors in England, can Thomas leave his bachelor ways and find love? CHRISTIAN CAVENDISH
Age: 23 FC: Timothee Chalamet Third son to the Earl Burlington (a brother of the 5th Duke of Devonshire), Christian takes advantage of having the privilege of not being the first born son. Art, theatre, music, and parties, Christian can be found at any social setting that is worth talking about. Always finding the fun anywhere he is, Christian's name is no stranger to Madame Missive's gossip column. Though he is used to his rakish and reckless ways, Christian was raised with the best education money could buy and is actually quite smart. Though he prefers to let loose, the man knows the right times for it and understands when he needs to put his best foot forward and be the proper gentleman he was raised to be. As a member of the highly esteemed Cavendish name, there is at times a bit of pressure to hold oneself higher than the rest. Can Christian handle it? |
GEORGIANA HOWARD (NEE. CAVENDISH)
Age: 33 FC: Charity Wakefield The eldest daughter to the Duke of Devonshire. The Countess of Carlisle through marriage to George Howard, Earl of Carlisle. CORDELIA HOWARD (NEE. CAVENDISH)
Age: 19 FC: Jessica Brown-Findlay TBA HENRY CAVENDISH
AGE: 25 FC: Jamie Dornan Middle child and second son to the Duke of Devonshire, Henry has been known to be a bit of a wild card in their family. Having to live up to his brother Thomas's light, Henry finds himself often trying harder to study, work, and show that he is up for any challenge just as his big brother. Though Henry can easily be discouraged and quickly gives up and continues his partying ways. Though his brother is far from perfect and enjoys a good drink and a rambunctious time as well, Henry can't help the underlining feeling of being beneath him. Thomas is to be Duke one day, and Henry? He may have riches and be a lord, but Henry feels he will never fully have his father's respect as Thomas does. Other than issues at home, Henry is actually quite close with Thomas and his sister Cordelia. Henry is quite humorous and enjoys being social with his friends. From hunting parties to balls to even a little fun in between the sheets with more than a few willing ladies, Henry knows how to live his life to the fullest and have fun. When not out with friends though, he was taken up a big interest in politics, and has begun working to even have a role in it one day. CALLIOPE CAVENDISH
Age: FC: Ella Hunt |
GREENGRASS FAMILY
LOUISA HUXLEY(NEE. GREENGRASS)
AGE: 26 FC: Natalie Dormer The only daughter resulting from her mother’s first marriage, Louisa spent the early years of her life in the heart of France until her father died and her mother remarried an English Marquess. Though Louisa gained three lovely sisters, (Effie, Colette, and Delphine), she grew up feeling as though she belonged elsewhere. She longed for the luxury of Versailles, and once she was old enough she begged to be sent to live with her mother's brother at French Court. With her wishes granted, Louisa found herself at the center of many lavish events and parties, mingling and even sharing beds with many important figures—royals among them. Though she was the face a number of scandals, it was there that she met her first husband— a Viscount and adviser to the King. Married in the midst of the French Revolution, they were together for just over two years before the killing of nobles began. Her mother rushed to France to retrieve both Louisa and the rest of their family, but was unsuccessful. Louisa barely escaped France with her own life (with the help of Edmund Acton), let alone those of her loved ones. Louisa has since returned to Hemlock Park, though she is often wary of her fellow French nobles due to her less than proper decorum at Versailles. She hopes to leave her years of scandal behind and set a better example for her younger sisters despite the terrors she endured during the revolution. Louisa later found herself married for the second time to Thaddeus Huxley. They are the perfect couple, until the pair are behind closed doors. EUPHEMIA "EFFIE" GODWIN (NEE. GREENGRASS)
AGE: 21 FC: Kirsten Dunst A middle child by her French, aristocratic mother and eldest for her Marquess father, Effie grew up with an abundance of privilege in her life and often was given more freedom than her parents cared to imagine throughout the years. Growing up, Effie often looked up to her older, half-sister, Louisa, and dreamed of walking in her footsteps as younger sisters often do. After Louisa moved to France to live with their aunt and uncle -and eventually, marry- Effie became the one to look up to in many ways to her younger sisters, Colette and Delphine. The three became thick as thieves in England, though letters came frequently from Louisa telling of her tales at French Court. Along her mother's lessons, Effie had some of the best tutors available, affording her all the proper skills and knowledge that an upper class woman should have (though it was her father who tutored her deadly poker hand). Tragedy struck the Greengrass family during the French Revolution with the execution of Effie's mother and nearly all of her side of the family. This forced Effie to step up in many ways to help run her family home, causing her to mature quickly and in more ways than she was ready for. With Louisa back in Hemlock and helping when she can, Effie can't help but yearn for her freedoms once more and aches to let herself have fun once again. |
COLETTE GREENGRASS
AGE: 19 FC: Gabriella Wilde The second youngest daughter of a French mother and English father, Colette, or Lette to her sisters, is a slightly reserved and overtly caring young woman. As a child, her mother tenderly called her, "mon rayon de soleil", a ray of sunshine, joking that Lette had absorbed all the sun's rays and joy on the day of her Spring birth. Lette is devoted to her sisters and she likes to be at one of their hips at every social event and gathering. Her only moments of solitude involve her private ballet lessons and stealing pasties from the kitchens. Before Lette can properly enter the zealous world of flirting and drinking in Hemlock Park alongside her sister Effie, her own work came crashing down when her mother and most of her maternal family was captured and sent to the guillotine. Lette's days are full of mourning and her nights are full of terrible dreams. She leans on her sisters now more than ever as she struggles to heal her heart and spirit. DELPHINE GREENGRASS
Age: 18 FC: Elle Fanning The youngest of the Greengrass daughters, Delphine has very large, very fine shoes to fill, and a number of them at that. She looks up to and shapes herself in the image of her sisters, watching them carefully and learning from their mistakes and triumphs. Delphine loves all things fashion, and is quite good at designing and creating her own clothes. She loves to change up her dresses after wearing them, remaking them anew with embroideries and embellishments. As she gets older, Delphine is beginning to take after her eldest sisters when they first came out, seeking out all the fun life has to offer and finding trouble here and there in the process... Will she take the same path as Louisa and Effie, succumbing to the lavish life of parties and debauchery? Take after Colette, adopting her more sweet and quiet disposition? Or will she learn to take the best parts of all her sisters into herself? |
ARCHIBALD FAMILY
AURORA CAVENDISH (NEE. ARCHIBALD)
AGE: 21 FC: Adelaide Kane The youngest and only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Somerset, Aurora is used to being the center of attention. She loves drinking and flirting, as well as bickering with her brother equally. She hides her brilliance well enough to gain the attention of most upper class gentlemen who she enjoys toying with. Her closest friends include the Greengrass sisters and most other Hemlock Park ladies she grew up with. The sudden death of her father, the Duke, leaves Aurora struggling to keep her family together. Her mother has hardly spoken a sentence to her and her brother, Ronan, has suddenly turned to a life of debauchery. Aurora feels responsible to bring normalcy back to the Archibald home, little does she know that her father's death has brought forth several dark family secrets. |
*RONAN ARCHIBALD (Deceased)
AGE: 26 FC: David Oakes Ronan is the only son and heir of the Duke and Duchess of Somerset. He is an extremely charming gentleman who can often be spotted alongside the other upper class Englishmen drinking and gambling. With his father's sudden death, Ronan found himself with a title he hadn't expected to receive for years to come an abundance of responsibilities before him, and the discovery of a dark family secret; the Archibald men are prone to untimely deaths. With his own fears of superstition and the clock against him, the young Duke plans to live his life fast and impulsively, damned if the title and family name are blemished in the process. But for how long with Ronan live this lifestyle? Will he let such legends get the best of him before it's too late and his family name is ruined? PERCIVAL "PERCY" ARCHIBALD
AGE: 21 FC: Nicholas Hoult Percy’s father was quite old when he took Percy’s mother as his third wife and died shortly thereafter. Percy is the only surviving child to his father and sole inheritor. Despite this, Percy never cared to uphold the legacy of his father who feels like a stranger to him. His mother allowed Percy a very independent life and used her dowry, inheritance, and widow freedom to live a life outside of their home. Percy, in turn, took up a carefree attitude, enjoying his schooling and drinking. Percy exhibits all the good and bad qualities of an aristocrat— he is snobbish and arrogant, but also completely honest and sure of himself. Intelligent and forthright, he has a tendency to judge too harshly. The sudden death of his second cousin, Ronan Archibald, grants Percy the title of Duke as the closest surviving male relative. Percy never met Ronan and is a complete stranger to Hemlock Park. He first arrives for the late Duke’s funeral and will now need to sort out how to carry a title never meant for him in a new home. |
WENTWORTH FAMILY
RICHARD WENTWORTH
Age: 51 FC: Rupert Graves Reformed rake *ALFRED WENTWORTH (Deceased)
Age: 30 FC: Cillian Murphy ROSALIND HABSBURG-LORRAINE (NEE. WENTWORTH)
Age: 29 FC: Annabelle Wallis Being the eldest daughter to the Duke of Richmond always meant that there was a precedent to be set and that she had to be an example for the daughters that came after. Rosalind, from a young age, was a nurturing soul and that often translated into caring for her younger siblings until she left the house, though she was always closest with her older brother Alfred. When the time came for her to be presented to society, she caught both eyes of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. A wedding was had and though it weighed on her heart, Rosalind, now a Grand Duchess, removed to Italy. Ten years later, and with two healthy heirs to show for it, Rosalind has returned to Hemlock Park with her family as her husband deals with the politics involving her two homelands -- leaving her to focus on bringing their third child, hopefully a girl, into the world. Though, a life without much pain or death soon came to an end when Alfred passed, leaving Rosalind grief stricken especially as her daughter was born unmoving only weeks later. Now, as a new year dawns, she is returning to herself once more and finding happiness through the shadows left with her in winter. GEORGE WENTWORTH
Age: 27 FC: Jonathan Bailey Twin brother to William, George makes up one-half of the second-born son. He has always felt an immense responsibility to look after and shield his sisters, and can be over protective of them at times, especially now with a Dukedom looming in the distance being that his oldest brother, Alfred, has passed. For the first time since it's creation, the Richmond Peerage has been placed in an interesting predicament with it's future now falling to the twins. He finds himself to be less carefree than some of his siblings and friends, often being found on the edges of a ballroom rather than in the center. This young lord is certainly of a quick wit and level head, always being the one looked to for a sarcastic, and sometimes too honest one-liner. He has always been selective about his inner circle, only a few outside his siblings and cousins making the cut. Though, shockingly enough, George has found himself a partner in the most unlikely of places. After much frustration through the years, ups and downs, and even months of silence at one point, a love was proclaimed for none other than childhood nemesis Eliza Spencer . . now Wentworth. Will these fiery newlyweds burn even brighter together than they did apart? And will the title of the Duke of Richmond fall in George's favor? WILLIAM WENTWORTH
AGE: 27 FC: Aiden Turner A half of the second born son to the Wentworth family, William became content with the spotlight being away from him and rather on one of his 10 other siblings or his twin, George. When not in the public eye or with close friends, William is quite spirited and enjoys having a good time with drinks and card games. But to those that don't know him, William seems very straight forward and a no nonsense type of man. William finds himself closest to his younger sister, Charlotte, the two of them share a special bond with one another. Both are quick with their wit and enjoy a good glass of wine with friends. William managed to survive a number of battles during the French Revolution, but is left with scars both physical and emotional. Becoming a Colonel in the British Army, William took on more responsibility than he thought he ever would for this war. Often William can't help the flashbacks and memories of the battlefield, though he tries to hide his pain from the world. The Lord of Bartham does his best to seem unfazed with the horrors that he has seen, though it made him stronger than before, even war can turn the strongest man weak. One-half of the second-born son to the Duke of Richmond, he has close ties to Alexander Graham and Thomas Cavendish, the three men always able to be found having a drink or securing a win at the card tables. THEODORE "TEDDY" WENTWORTH
Age: 26 FC: Luke Thompson The archetypical middle child, Teddy often fell through the cracks. Quiet and well-mannered, he would usually be overshadowed or drowned out by one sibling or another at any given time. Not that he really minded much... Teddy learned to see his ability to become effectively-invisible as a gift. It allowed him to slip away and find solace from his hoard of siblings around every corner, or get away with things that "couldn't possibly have been Teddy". A kind, intelligent, talented gentleman, Teddy is a real renaissance man. He finds great joy in music and loves all things to do with it; writing, listening, playing. He absolutely shreds on the piano, but is also versed in several other instruments including the violin and cello. Having plenty of older brothers, Teddy has very few obligations as a son. He is fairly free to do as he pleases, filling much of his days with entertainment, culture, and good company. |
ELEANOR WENTWORTH
Age: 47 FC: Ruth Gemmell PERPETUA SUTTON (NEE. WENTWORTH)
Age: 25 FC: Tanya Reynolds NICHOLAS WENTWORTH
Age: 24 FC: Paul Dano MARGARET WENTWORTH
Age: 22 FC: Jenna Coleman The classic middle child, Margaret grew up both very quiet and yet loud due to having to fight to be heard in such a large family. CHARLOTTE HARGROVE (NEE. WENTWORTH)
AGE: 20 FC: Keira Knightley Having ninth child privileges helps Charlotte to enjoy the freedoms she has, especially when her brother's heads are turned. As a daughter to the Duke and Duchess of Richmond, she just like all of her siblings received the best education available; turning Charlotte into the fine, young refined lady she is today. Even with the amount of siblings she has, Charlotte never finds it hard to find the spotlight or feel seen. Being quite the social butterfly, she has managed to find her way into a number of cliques; something that always seems to help when needed. When not sitting behind her beloved piano, Charlotte can be found at the modiste shopping, on the dancefloor with eligible bachelors, or partying with her dear friends. Even a refined woman like Charlotte needs some fun. JOSEPHINE WENTWORTH
AGE: 19 FC: Emma Watson A fun loving and spirited young woman, Josephine steers with her heart over her mind. It could even be said that she's a bit too free-spirited at times. The second youngest of eleven children, Josephine grew up in the shadow of her sisters. Being only a year her junior, Josephine was always compared to Charlotte, who excelled in most things. This proximity in age created a strange dynamic for Josephine, and she cannot help but use her closest sister as the example of what she should be working towards. Despite this strain, she is still on of her closest siblings. Having grown up in such a large family, Josephine enjoys any quiet solitary place she can find to read the poetry she has secretly become so enamored with. Though you would never hear her admit it, Josephine wants the true love she reads about but knows she is destined for some just so properly arranged marriage that will help along the important family to which she belongs. Will Josie manage to carve her own path or will she follow the beaten track, paved by her older siblings? KATHERINE “KITTY” WENTWORTH
Age: 17 FC: Claudia Jessie Kitty, being young and full of hope, is often asking a lot of questions, some getting her in trouble with her family and others. A curious girl with a spunk for originality, she is always found reading and writing and bettering her education as much as she can. With not much of a filter just yet, though her siblings try their best to help that, Kitty is known to say some off the wall things or make comments no one would expect. She is quite blunt and honest. But, as she is the youngest, she is often trying to join her elder siblings conversations and be a part of the gossip and news. With her 17th birthday freshly passing, her mother has begun talking of her coming out into society. Though, with what Kitty reads in Madame Missive's gossip papers she isn't entirely sure she is ready to actually be thrown into the mayhem. She is only further thrown into confusion and the next chapter of her life when she begins to develop certain feelings she has never experienced before for a certain man. With Fanny, Hattie and Mary as good friends, Kitty is often found with them. Will she admit her fears for society to them? Or whatever feelings she has grown? Or perhaps Kitty will push away those fears and follow in her sisters' footsteps. Afterall, Katherine was born into this life. |
HASTINGS FAMILY
EDITH HASTINGS
AGE: 47 FC: Ruth Gemmell Viscountess Hastings, happily married for quite some time to the Viscount, though with much less progeny to show for it when in comparison to her twin sister, Eleanor Wentworth. Her own brood are five in number, containing Coleman, Cecilia, Verity, Claire, and Oscar. Not that it would matter, as she seems to constantly find her nieces and nephews underfoot no matter the hour. While her own can be found at the Duke of Richmond's house with their cousins. Edith has never lacked the strong backbone her sister possesses, but she is often seen as the softer of the pair. Though, despite their differences, they both shook the ton by finding love matches within their first few seasons. She often hopes that her children will find the same, both Coleman and Cecilia being well and old enough to secure partners-- but she has never been one to push them further than needed. After all, love comes to everyone eventually. |
COLEMAN HASTINGS
AGE: 24 FC: Luke Newton CECILIA HASTINGS
AGE: 19 FC: Pheobe Dynevor Eldest daughter to the Viscount Hastings, Cecilia grew up rather quiet. She much preferred to laugh quietly on the sidelines as her older sisters took the spotlight. Though it is said that Cecilia is the most beautiful of the Hastings girls, she is very humble with all that she has been given in her life. A skilled singer and pianist, Cecilia was educated on all of the subjects that any young, upper class woman would need to know in order to find herself a good husband. Growing up, she always took her studies very seriously. Now that she is older it is time for Cece to enter the spotlight. She is hesitant to step into it, but can't help the bit of excitement she has for it. She has been to parties and balls before, but not with eyes on her. As Cecilia becomes more comfortable with her circle of friends and her new role, many learn that she is quite funny and enjoy spending time with her. As Cecilia begins to enjoy herself and begins receiving more invitations to lavish events, will she go too far? Or will she know when to stop and hold herself back? With her sweet face and delicate movements, its no secret than the men adore her. But will any of them truly catch Miss Hastings' eye? |
SPENCER FAMILY
KINGSLEY FAMILY
*JULIEN KINGSLEY(Deceased)
Age: 28 FC: Josh Dallas EDWARD KINGSLEY
AGE: 26 FC: James Norton A good friend to Thomas Cavendish, Charles Ivymore, and James Barrett, the three men always seem to be together or getting into trouble together. When not at the private club in London called the Valerian with his mates having a drink or winning at the card tables, Edward finds himself to be an avid hunter. His favorite holiday to go on is the annual hunting trip to the Cavendish hunting lodge. Being the eldest son of Lord Edward Kinglsey, Earl of Derby, our "little King" as he is so lovingly called by his mother was raised with the finer things in life just like his friends. Though he has riches that would cause a barmaid to blush, Edward isn't one to boast about it. The man is quite humble with his money and promised title. Not many can think of a bad thing to say about Edward, for he is quick with helping his friends when they are in need and as loyal as can be. Edward had always thought he would be arranged, and wasn't all that surprised when his father told him the news about his betrothal to Miss Violet De Lesseps. The two had often run around in the same circles growing up and have deeper connections than he realizes. For his new witty and fiery fiance has been having a torrid affair with Edward's best friend, Charles Ivymore. Will the rumors and news come to light? How will Edward react to such news? Will the usually mild tempered man finally let his emotions get the best of him? |
HENRIETTA KINGSLEY
Age: 18 FC: Hailee Steinfeld Hattie marches to the beat of her own drum. She speaks before she thinks, and acts out of impulse too often. She possesses all of the knowledge to play the part of a Lady if she were so inclined, having been given all the best tutors growing up. However, she craves a different life. If it were up to her, Hattie would spend her days doing whatever she saw fit, learning, traveling, living... but rather than maintain her freedoms, she knows she must become someone's wife, and rather soon. The only daughter of her family, she doesn't want to remain in her fathers household as a burden, a disappointment, so she has resigned herself to reality, hoping to instead find the right man who will afford her the freedoms of a marriage, without shackling her to be the perfect little woman at his beckon call. I mean, that shouldn't be too hard... right? |
DARLING FAMILY
HUGH DARLING
Age: 28 FC: JJ Feild Hugh is the eldest of the darling siblings and a Lieutenant in the British Army. Growing up, his family remained well off but were tight with their money. As the younger son of a younger brother with no title, Hugh found his place in the world strange, intermingling with those of rank but never having a foot in the door himself. Unless his titled uncle were to pass away, he will remain without title forever. With money playing a key role in his upbringing, he was always aware of their situation. In order to provide money and gain something of name for himself, Hugh enlisted in the army to fight in the revolutionary wars. Unbeknownst to him, the peaceful household he had left has become a broken one. Depsite their money troubles their home was always a happy one with his parents content in the love they shared. Now Hugh must find out what has happened, returning after years now that a peace treaty is in place. The life of a soldier has given Hugh his fair share of struggles but ultimately it gave him the life experience he never would have learned in Hemlock. He can survive in the wilderness, go without food, can cook and tend to himself without need of servants. While he may now dress himself, he still likes to have some luxuries. Hugh is kindly, warm, and protective with a temper worn down by war. As he has grown and as his surroundings dictated, he has become more serious than he used to be but he's still the man who left all those years ago deep down. |
WINIFRED DARLING
Age: 20 FC: Sophie Rundle Winnie is the eldest daughter and second child of the Darling family. Her parents, who for the most part of her life have been quite in love, are of a lower ranking nobility due to her uncle gaining the title of Earl leaving her father with only courtesies. Subsequently, they have remained rather frugal electing to have no further children after her sister Beatrice to keep costs low. Winnie’s coming out consisted of a small ball in her name which she describes as something more like a birthday party. Lately, her parents’ once peaceful union has been broken, as they fight about many things behind closed doors. Winnie attributes this to her elder brother’s absence as he is overseas fighting French forces led by Napoleon. Despite their trying times, her parents have been more lenient, upping their allowance and replying to invitations to let their daughters truly come out into society. Of course, they want her to marry rich, but love isn’t the first thing on her mind. She is excited at the prospect of gaining friends and coming out from the shelter they placed her under. Winnie is a sweet yet delicate young woman, well accomplished and loyal to the finish. Home life does bother her but she tries to keep a cheery attitude as best she can. BEATRICE DARLING
Age: 19 FC: Anya Taylor-Joy Bea is the youngest and last daughter of the Darling family. With her elder brother fighting the French overseas, she remains at home with her sister Winifred and their parents. Once her parents had been quite in love and Beatrice dreamed of a life like that for herself, but now all they do is fight. The Darling family, having always been frugal with their money as they are only low-ranking nobility, decided that after Beatrice was born, they would have no more children. Both she and her sister only had a ball held in their name instead of a lavish coming out, however with their parents' fighting, they have become much more lenient of late which Beatrice uses to her advantage. She loves to shop and have the nicest things. Her parents want their daughters out of the house and she is more than happy to spend all of her time visiting friends, attending balls, and going to other functions. Though her home life is hard, with her brother gone and animosity in the household, she tries not to feel it, drowning it out with all the luxuries life will afford her. She is determined to marry rich, but knows deep down that she will want to marry for love, whether or not she still believes in it for herself. Despite all her confidence and lust for life, deep down she is still the soft and gentle little girl she always was. She has a heart of gold and would do anything to help other people, making them her projects as she cannot fix her own life. How will Beatrice fare in the world of Hemlock? |

Raised to be a proper young woman, Lillian can easily find her way into other's hearts with her kind expression and manners. Being the youngest and ever since the death of her older sister Ophelia, Lillian grew up greatly protected and even sheltered by her older brother Alexander and her family. With her sister's whereabouts still unknown to many, Lillian finds herself heavily watched over by her brother. Though she has a very good relationship with Alexander, Lily can oftentimes feel suffocated by her brother's antics. She understands his weariness to let her out of his sight, but the young woman isn't sure how to tell her brother how she feels. With a healthy craving for more freedom and the hunger to learn more of the world, how will Lily tell her brother that what happened to their sister couldn't possibly also happen to her? Age: FC: Gillian Anderson |
De LESSEPS FAMILY
MARCEL DE LESSEPS
AGE: 52 FC: Charles Dance Count de Lesseps loves and fiercely protects his children while having a soft spot for his only daughter, Violet. Marcel settled in England long before the French Revolution, though the families of his two younger brothers were not as fortunate. Much de Lesseps blood had been spilt, and his only solace for some time was his wife, Hyacinth, though she passed away in 1796. The loss of his love nearly shattered him and he never intends to remarry. The Count is a proud man and while the wealth amassed by his family is plenty, he has made a number of enemies by not paying his debts. He feels cheated by those parties, but they could be closing in much faster than Marcel realizes. LUCIEN DE LESSEPS
AGE: 27 FC: Jude Law As the eldest of five children, the burden of carrying a title and legacy weigh on his shoulders. Upon his father's request, he has returned home from Italy to attend Violet's wedding to Edward Kingsley, but upon arrival the Count indicated that it was time for the de Lesseps heir to settle and marry. During his time abroad, Lucien studied art and earned quite the name for himself with his colorful strokes. Venice was enjoyed to the fullest extent, the lord even falling for a muse he had found in his travels. Unfortunately, it is true that muses are fleeting and just as quickly as she came, she went, leaving Lucien to ponder heavily the existence of love. He is known for his charming smile, booming laugh, and an occasionally harsh temper. Now that he is back in Hemlock, he is willing to take in all the park has to offer -- including one Colette Greengrass, who he now finds himself engaged to. Will past loves get in the way of this perfectly respectable match? ALISTAIR CLEMENT DE LESSEPS
AGE: 25 FC: Aaron Taylor-Johnson As the second eldest of the de Lesseps brood, Alistair finds himself to be free of the duties of a first born son to a noble family. This young lord is not particularly close with his father, but the pair get on well enough despite Alistair feeling overlooked most of the time. Where his older brother is quiet and kind, Alistair is loud and somewhat brash, tending to be a very outspoken individual who is not afraid to say what he wants. He is dashing, and often uses his excellent dancing skills and velvety words to charm the ladies of the ton. However, with the death of his mother and most of his distant relations, Alistair has found himself searching for a larger purpose in life -- but will his age old habit of ending up in the wrong bed after a drunken night set him on an entirely different path? |
VIOLET IVYMORE (NEE. DE LESSEPS)
AGE: 21 FC: Holliday Grainger Though her father is French, Violet and her family have resided in England and Hemlock for most of her life. Though her family takes pride in their English lives, Violet holds on to what French traditions the family still has. When she was younger, she begged her parents to send her to France to be with family and go to court there. Unfortunately the French Revolution put a hold on her plans as her father's family fled France to escape the guillotine. Violet still finds herself upset over those she did lose in the revolution, but rarely shows her true emotions. Often cold with her feelings, Violet came come off selfish at times and naive to other's feelings. Growing up the youngest of five children to Count De Lesseps, Violet has become accustomed to a certain lavish lifestyle that she never plans on letting go of. Quite popular in her group, Violet is quite close with the Greengrass sisters and those in their close circle. But, she finds herself especially close to Charles Ivymore. The two have grown so close to have a secret relationship with one another and have continued with it, even with the news of Violet's engagement to Edward Kingsley. Will Violet carry on with the infatuation with Charles? Or will the young woman learn to think of other's around her and their feelings? MATHIEU DE LESSEPS
AGE: 24 FC: Freddie Stroma Mathieu, like all of the De Lesseps, is dedicated to his family, but while his siblings tend to be free spirits, he is the most practical sibling. He shares his family's taste for the finer things, but is not one for the more extravagant gestures or flashy items. After the death of their mother, Mathieu stayed by his father's side and helped him manage their finances and business interests. However, after an unknown incident, he left England and found himself in the newly formed United States. He had limited contact with his family, but has at last returned to them in Hemlock Park. BEAU DE LESSEPS
AGE: 21 FC: Toby Regbo The youngest son of the count, Beau has never been remotely responsible for family affairs and has thus enjoyed a relatively uncomplicated life. Like his sister, who he is closest to, Beau has a taste for the finer things and can always be seen sporting the latest fashions at events. He is never one to fly under the radar and yet this young lord finds himself discovering the gossip and secrets of the ton, soon to be spilt lest he learn to keep a drunk tongue from wagging. A man of great confidence and good intentions, but he is sometimes made unreliable and impulsive after a night out. His fun-loving nature works well with that of his older brother Alistair, the two usually enjoying a party together here and there especially now that Beau has returned from an extended trip abroad. Though something seems to have changed in his absence, his eyes shining a little less than before. Is there anyone that can discover the reason as to why? |
HOWARD FAMILY
DANIEL HOWARD
AGE: 30 FC: Oliver Jackson-Cohen Known as the "Bachelor Duke", Daniel is enjoying his life of rakedom in upper class England one day at a time. Inheriting the Duke of Norfolk title when he was just twenty-one, it has taken Daniel some time to get into the rhythm of business and understanding just what his title means, as well as taking care of his two younger sisters. A loyal customer to the Valerian Club, Daniel is often found taking back shots with Thomas or Conrad any given night. But, as the years have passed, Daniel has seemed to slow down on his party ways to focus on the duties he inherited from his father, though a dukedom doesn't mean going completely sober. With summer just around the corner and a filled calendar for the social season that is now in full swing, can Daniel keep dedicated to his duties? Or will the temptation of excitement take him back to his ways? CAROLINE HOWARD
Age: FC: Kathryn Newton |
MADALENE HOWARD
Age: 19 FC: Jodie Comer Madalene is the youngest of the Howard siblings. While she is always doted on by her older brother, she feels she is constantly living in the shadow of her older sister - and Maddie doesn't want that anymore. She wants to thrive and become her own person. Returning home after three years away, Maddie is not the young girl everyone used to know. She is now a young woman who has become close with Her Majesty Queen Charlotte's ladies in waiting and their families. Though she may not be near them any longer, she writes to them constantly still. Now that she is home, what does her future hold for her? Will her over-bearing, protective brother stand in her way? Or will her let her become the woman she is meant to be? Only time will tell. |

AGE: 25 FC: Charlotte Spencer A woman of great means, Fiona has always known just what to say and how to act to get what she wants. FELICITY WAKEFIELD
AGE: 19 FC: Lily James Felicity Wakefield has always been known for her sweet disposition and kind heart. Having four older brothers and being the youngest and only girl of the family, she was fiercely protected and often sheltered from things in life. As she grows older now, Felicity finds herself trying to break out of the sheltered shell her family calls home. Will her naive outlook on life only cripple her in the society that she so longed to be fully emerged in? A young, beautiful lady such as herself, Felicity can't help the longing looks from gentlemen in her circle. The attention she receives is exciting of course, but will she feed too much into the kind and inviting words of these men? A good friend to the Greengrass sisters, Felicity enjoys her time with Colette laughing at the Hemlock parties, shopping in the city for the newest fashions to wear to the next ball, and giggling and gossiping during social calls to her friends. When she isn't with friends, Felicity is oftentimes home practicing on her piano forte or visiting with her dear grandmother. TOBIAS GREY

Age: FC: Allen Leech Nathaniel Parr was just your average Baron. He came from a decent family and never really wanted for anything, but he also knew the struggles of the lower classes. He married for love and had a beautiful daughter named Juliet. One day all that changed. His wife was murdered on her way home and the culprit was never found. Nathaniel didn't know what to do, growing lost without his wife beside him, now a widower with a darling little girl always asking when mummy would come home. He decided that the two of them needed to start afresh, so planned to move away from all they had known. Not two days later, after making the decision, he received a letter stating that a distant relative had passed and he was to inherit the title of the Marquess of Northampton. Nathaniel had wanted a change and it was as though his prayers were answered. With everything packed up and ready to go, Nathaniel set off to Hemlock Park to start setting down roots in the city. ODETTE RIDLEY
Age: 21 FC: Kate Winslet daughter of the marquess of Bath SYLVIA CROMWELL (NEE. ABERNATHY)
AGE: 22 FC: Ksenia Solo One of the older Abernathy sisters, Sylvia now finds herself happily married and running her own home in Hemlock as a Countess. On the cover, Sylvia and her life look on the whole perfect, but then again, Sylvia was always good at pretending. After having secretly stealing a man that originally had been after her sister Emma's hand in marriage, Sylvia finds herself wedded to a man that has multiple affairs and takes heavily to drinking. Though the couple may seem happy in their marriage to the public eye, those closest to them know that the Count hasn't given up his bachelor days. Is it sick karma for stealing away something from her sister? Or perhaps in a way, did she save the innocence her sister has by saving her from such a man? To distract herself from her husband's affairs, Sylvia can often be found with her sisters or friends, at the parties hosted in Hemlock, or in London shopping and spending her husband's money happily. KEATON "KIT" ABERNATHY
AGE: 31 FC: Jack Fox Eldest son to the Abernathy title and fortune, Kit has always been a driven man with the means to do as he pleases. Becoming quite a successful Barrister, he is known for more than being the Greengrass heir, since the Marquess of Milford Haven never had a son of his own. A second cousin to the Greengrass sisters, Kit and his sister Astrid are finding themselves back in Hemlock after over a decade in Scotland to check in. MARION STORMWRIGHT
AGE: FC: Heida Reed ARCHIBALD "ARCHIE" WYLAND
AGE: 23 FC: Samuel Farnsworth Best friend to Jack Bradshaw, Archie can usually be found tagging along with whatever adventures welcome them. With a world renowned architect for a father, Archie has always wanted for nothing in his life. Given the best education and lessons his family could offer. It was in his youth when Archibald met Jack. The two hit it off immediately and became sidekick like friends to one another. A lover of the outdoors, Archie prefers croquet and picnics over hunting any day- the sport being a little too... much for him. Spending so much time with Jack, Archie finds himself often surrounded by the aristocracy. While he may seem like the annoying younger brother to many because of his constant attendance (he goes anywhere Jack goes of course), he certainly finds a way into one's heart. Horrible jokes and all. And now, with a certain young lady catching Archie's eye, how will the young man handle cupid's arrow? Will he find it just a fancy? Or will it turn to more as time goes on? MARIANNE BAYBROOKE
AGE: 20 FC: Rose Williams Middle child of Lord and Lady Baybrooke, Marianne felt rather pushed to the side when she was younger. With an older brother and demanding sister this sweet young lady has had to learn to hold her ground. Now into adulthood, she has blossomed. Growing into her confidence, though often still quiet in nature, she enjoys being social and spending time with her friends Alice, Odette, and Lucy. Marianne is also a skilled harpist and avid reader. GWENDOLYN DONWELL
AGE: 21 FC: Elizabeth Olsen CHARLES IVYMORE
AGE: 26 FC: Jack Farthing Orphaned at a young age due to his parent's ship crashing, Charles was raised by his stern uncle with the promise of one day taking control of his father's businesses and legacy as the Earl of Northampton. Charles had been sent to the best schools to give him the proper education he needed to succeed in business and in life. With only a few rowdy incidents with his good friend Thomas Cavendish, Charles excelled in his schooling and when he turned 21, was given full reign of what his father started. The business had always been a good one, and now with Charles in charge it is at the peak of it's wealth. But for how long will this success last? Charles is an avid gambler, he usually has a winning streak, but when will his luck run out? This eligible bachelor is good with his words, quite charming, and knows how to get what he wants. But at present what he wants most is Violet De Lesseps, but what would he be willing to do to have her, seeing as she is currently engaged to Charles's business partner and good friend, Edward Kingsley? AMOS HARGROVE
AGE: 32 FC: Jack Davenport VICTORIA NETHERFIELD
AGE: 25 FC: Hayley Atwell A Countess and widow, Victoria Netherfield has begun picking up the pieces of her life after mourning. Victoria had been married only four years with her husband before he passed, but the two had loved one another greatly. With her dear friends Marie Sophie and Agatha, and her son Hugo at her side, Victoria is learning to be strong and to move on with her life. The Countess is a very smart woman, she is skilled in languages and geography, and is very easy to speak to. She carries a kindness that draws others in, and is very caring to those she loves. Due to her soft and kind nature, no one would believe the dark secret she holds. Before her marriage to her late husband, Victoria knew Damien Adler quite well growing up. The two had been so close that Damien hid the body of a young woman that had been killed late one night from an accident Victoria had. The young woman had been the younger sister of Alexander Graham. After hiding the body of Miss Ophelia Graham, Damien ran off to Italy for "business" and has stayed there ever since, until now. The secret of Alexander's sister's whereabouts and what happened that night have been well kept secrets, but for how long will it last? Was Ophelia's death really an accident, for if so, why would her death be kept such a well hidden secret? Will Damien's return break down the lies Victoria has been keeping up so long? GABRIELLE LAMONTE
AGE: 19 FC: Amanda Seyfried After a silent getaway in the middle of the night from France, Gabrielle and her family have made Hemlock their new home these last few years. Leaving behind a world she knew, Gabrielle has done her best to start anew in England. With her father in America on business, Gabrielle is at home with her mother, little brother, and aunt, all of whom she is very close with. Family is quite important to Gabrielle, she spends a big amount of time with her aunt who traveled with them due to her husband's imprisonment in France. Sometimes gaining entry into parts of society in England can be hard, but with her kind disposition and good looks, Gabrielle has happily made new friends in Hemlock, particularly with the Greengrass sisters, who helped her to become friends with many more people. Gabrielle hopes to one day be able to return to her family home in France, but silently mourns for the fact that she may not ever be able to. With news of her father really gambling away their fortune while in America instead of doing business as he said he was there to do, Gabrielle's mother now begins the pressure on her daughter of finding a wealthy husband to save their family from the possible ruin before residents find out. Will Gabrielle do what her mother asks and save the family from ruin? Or will news break before she can find a suitor, leaving her possibly penniless and without a good future in Hemlock? AGATHA THORNWOOD
AGE: 22 FC: Michelle Dockery Fresh out of mourning from her "dearly" departed fiance, Agatha Thornwood is more than happy to be back in social standing and out and about. Agatha would have liked to have come out of mourning much sooner, but to stay clear from the papers of being heartless and with her mother's insistent bickering, Agatha acted cordial and proper with time. She very much did not like her older fiance, she thought that he was disgusting and a sloth, so needless to say Agatha wasn't too sad when he had a heart attack and died. Now that she is single again, Agatha is very excited to hopefully find a suitor that she actually likes. But at already twenty two, will she find a husband before people begin to speak of spinsterhood? Well educated and quite witty, Agatha may at times seem standoffish and materialistic. When not at home, Agatha can be found with her good friend Victoria. A lover of the arts, Agatha loves going to the opera. FREDERICK HARCOURT
AGE: 34 FC: Michael Fassbender ALBUS EMERSON
AGE: 27 FC: Jack Lowden Albus Emerson is no stranger to the Hemlock Chronicles when it comes to his antics. A young man with money and good looks to collect corset strings, Albus is a man who knows how to charm and live his life to the fullest. Becoming a Captain in the British Army during the revolution was something his parents hoped would calm and mature their son, but it only seemed to make his ideas of living life to the fullest even bigger. An avid gambler and drinker, Albus rarely misses a party with his friends. Being the eldest son to his Baron titled father, Albus finds himself extremely protective of his younger siblings, Abel and Stella. With his father's sudden illness causing him to be bed ridden and near death, will the reality of the circumstances bring Albus out of his partying phase? Or will he go too far? ABEL EMERSON
AGE: 24 FC: Ben Hardy The younger of the Emerson boys, Abel was often sheltered in his younger age unlike his brother. When he was just a boy, Abel became very sick, causing his mother since then to always worry of his health and safety since the illness nearly killed him. From constant sheltering, Abel in his young age always seemed to look on at his brother enjoying himself with their friends from afar. Abel is the more quiet one of the Emerson siblings, and often is more soft spoken, though it is hard for him to speak for himself and tell people his true feelings. As times are seeming to change and things are happening, will Abel be able to fully find his voice? As he breaks free from his past health scares, will he take it too far? Drinking with his brother and friends, going out and doing more things, possibly finding a wife, there is a whole world of things that Abel is finally letting himself have after showing his mother that he won't break. When he isn't spending time with his brother and their band of friends, Abel spends a good amount of time with his sister, Stella. The two get along very well, a lot of the time both being in the shadow of their brother Albus' spotlight and personality. VERITY DORMER-BOWLES
AGE: 21 FC: Anastasia Tsilimpiou JACK BRADSHAW
AGE:24 FC: Adrian Blake Enscoe A cousin to the Cavendish family, Jack can always be found near. ALICE MOUNT PEARSON (NEE. COMPTON)
Age: 22 FC: Olivia Cooke Alice is the only surviving daughter of eight born. Her four older brothers have since married and left home, leaving her with the house to herself. Despite her childhood being filled with death, Alice is happy and carefree. Growing up with brothers, she had to fight for attention and attention she is good at getting. Alice has a wicked sense of humor, enjoys a good competition, and has the smarts to get what she wants. She can be a little tomboyish but is still a lady, and she loves all the jewelry and fashion that comes with it. Alice always seems to have a good card hand and a trick up her sleeve. She loves to flirt with and tease men, but mostly she loves to get together with her friends to gossip and drink. Her home is always safe from prying eyes and ears, apart from her own. ELIAS CONWAY
Age: 27 FC: Mat Vairo Elias knew the importance of trusting his father's plans for him. They were always executed with precision and usually left him with quite the reward. So, when his father had proposed the Elias join the English Navy at the age of 16, the boy did so without question. It was on the seas that he learned his true strength. Elias can think quickly under pressure, and he can be cutthroat if the situation calls for it. His approach to problems may prove to be brash, bu they usually come through. Having left the Navy when he was 24, Elias found himself back under the reins of his father. His father gave him a handful of merchant ships and tasked him with delivering goods of all varieties to fuel the French chaos. Unfortunately, it was that same chaos that lured Elias into the baser desires of man that France was bringing to the world. Elias had lost sight of his mission and had allowed the French Navy to gain sight of his deception, leading to the desctruction of those very same ships that had brought him a name. Now, having been recalled to England with the end of France's revolution, Elias is searching for a way back into his father's good graces. Fortunately, Elias is patient and he will take his time at the endeavor. There are still drinks to be had aboard his ships and foolish conquests of romance to be discovered on the soils of land. ADELLA MONTAGUE
Age: 22 FC: Rosamund Pike Since her brother's death just two years ago, Adella has stepped away from her once very social life to live a more quiet one in mourning. Adella and her brother were once very close, the young woman looked up to her older brother greatly. The death of her brother effected not only Adella, but her entire family greatly. Her mother barely speaks now, only coming down from her room from time to time while her father engrossed himself in his work, making it so he is barely home. Losing their only son and first child hit her parents very hard, causing Adella to stay near her parents and to help them however she could. The only living child to her parents now and an heiress, Adella has a new found eligibility to marriages and possible suitors in Hemlock. Though she still mourns the loss of her dear brother, Adella's parents have begun to push her to go back to her social ways and lifestyle. Once very popular, will Adella be able to easily fall back into the circles that she pushed away from? As she slowly begins her social calls and accepting invitations to parties once again, Adella can't help the feelings she begins to develop for Samuel Wiley. Will anything come from her feelings? ELIJAH SEDLEY-REED
Age: 45 FC: Rufus Sewell The last of three brothers, Elijah has held the title of Duke of Northumberland for almost five years. He had never expected the title, but with his elders passing on childless it found its way to him. He had been prepared though, working alongside his family all his life, his level-headed nature perfect to settle qualms and disputes. He has spent most of his life in offices, parliamentary buildings, private gentleman’s clubs and more, always helping, always listening, always doing his duty. However, as life has gotten on, he has given up on the extra obligations, spending more time bettering his lands and estates and taking the time to relax and to attend social occasions he’d otherwise forget about. He is a gentle-natured and wise man, and while he likes his solitude, he does feel lonely sometimes. With no remaining siblings and no wife, Elijah only has newly arrived cousin Claude Perrault, fled from France, to keep his company. The two get on well, both only having each other, but sometimes he longs for feminine company. He has not loved since his first wife passed many years ago and often believes it not possible to dust the cobwebs off his heart, he believes he will likely remain the last of his name. As 1800 begins, it’s time for Elijah to forge new friendships, relationships, and to make more out of his life. DAMIEN ADLER
AGE: 29 FC: Tom Hiddleston Eldest son to the Count of Montefeltro, Damien has always been rather quiet and stuck to himself mostly. Apart from his friendship to Terence Brighton and Arthur Ravenwood, Damien spends most of his time working or reading books from his extensive library. He also has a hobby of ships and has been working on his own business to import and export items, creating his own fleet of ships in the near future. After fives years away in Italy for business, Damien has finally come back home to Hemlock bringing with him some truths and secrets that had been long forgotten until now. Five years before he departure to Italy, Damien helped to cover the death of Ophelia Graham, the younger sister of Alexander Graham. Damien had not been an active role in Ophelia's death, but he helped to dispose of the body because his love interest at the time, Victoria asked for his help. Victoria claimed that it had all been accidental and she had no part in it, but Damien may state otherwise. The trip to Italy came at the perfect time, for he left three days later after disposing of the once kind woman's body. The trip last nearly four years longer than he had planned, but Damien thought it right to leave after doing what he did. But now, as he returns to England to learn that Victoria had been married and that their secret was still unknown, Damien can't help but feel the guilt growing as he gets comfortable in his home once again. Will Damien help to prove that Victoria did have an active part in Ophelia's death as the truth comes out? Or will he keep the pact that the two made those five years ago and take his knowledge to his grave? AMELIA HAYES

Age: 25 FC: Josh Whitehouse SAMUEL GODWIN
Age: 26 FC: Johnny Flynn Over nine months ago, Samuel left Hemlock with his sister to spend time away and soon after their mother joined them. Now they have returned with a baby who they claim is the son of their Scottish family. Unfortunately Samuel bears the news that during their time there was a cholera outbreak that took the lives of their relatives and his sister, concealing the truth of what truly happened. Of course, that won’t stop the rumours from spreading but it is difficult to look at the Godwin family as being at the heart of a scandal. Samuel is a cousin to the Wentworth family and an intelligent and talented young man. The Godwin’s have connections with many great families at Hemlock, several gents being good friends of Samuel. He is a kind and caring young man, always doing things for the benefit of others. He can have intelligent, thoughtful conversation with the best of them, but likes a good night of drink and games with his best friends. He is witty and sweet, humble and fun. He appreciates all that has been given to him and all that stands around him. Samuel has been known to shed a tear at the likes of the opera or a painting, proudly in touch with his emotions unlike other men of the era, unable to help the way that beauty affects him. Despite this, he often hides things that are personal to him, currently the weight of what happened to his sister lays heavy on his shoulders but that does not stop him being the happy and bright gentleman that he is. RIVER MORAY
AGE: 24 FC: Eve Hewson KELLY MCNEIL/ROSS MORAY
Age: 29 FC: Adrian Paul Born in 1773, during the first phase clearance in Scotland. His father was a former trapper who travelled the continent before emigrating to a small fishing and trading settlement near New Aberdeen. His mother, a Romani Slave that his father brought from Wallachia, died shortly after Kelly was born. His childhood was relatively quiet until the day his father got lost at sea. Orphaned at age 14, Kelly packed his belongings in one bag and wandered for a couple of years until he arrived in London. There, he worked in all kinds of trades, from rodent chasing to lamp lighting. Tired of working all day in such low paying jobs, Kelly sought a more rewarding profession. Learning pick-pocketing from the best gangs in town, he soon escalated into new levels of thievery. As a con artist, he could travel and see the world he had only known through his fathers stories. In one of his numerous adventures, he found himself leading a journey to Yakutia, where diamond mining was still in its early stages. After an altercation with three of the party, Kelly took off with the diamonds and abandoned them, assuming the freezing temperature would take care of them. After a few months, there was an attempt on his life on the streets of Benghazi. Barely escaping and fearing for his life, Kelly joined the 42nd Regiment of the Foot on their way to Cairo. There he met Ross MacGregor, son of a Scottish Viscount from the Highlands. Although they had no time for friendship, he spent time listening to Ross' stories about his family - including his estranged maternal grandfather who lived in Hemlock Park and sister caring for their ailing mother in Ayrshire. His time in the army was cut short when they got caught up in the Battle of Alexandria. Mortally wounded, Ross handed Kelly a letter he was carrying begging him to take it to his sister River. Before he could reply, a nearby explosion knocked him unconscious. He woke up in a hospital under the name of Ross MacGregor, under the assumption he was Ross due to the letter. Mistake made, he had no intention of correcting them. On his way back to England, he read the letter. It was from a lawyer informing Ross that his grandfather had died and all was left to his daughter but as she had passed, it now went to him. He stopped reading, not wanting to question the luck afforded to him. No one who knew Kelly McNeil would be looking for him in London, not with this name and title. This could be the best adventure of his life. LOUIS DELACROIX
AGE: 28 FC: Alexander Vlahos With his father dying at the guillotine, Louis fled with his sister Margot and their mother to England in hopes of all of them a better life after war. After traveling to this town and that for the last few years, Louis, their mother and Margot have finally made a more permanent home in Hemlock Park. Growing from the mourning of their loved ones, Louis strives to take care of his mother and sister and get their lives back to as normal as they can be. In France, Louis's father had been close friends with the King and worked closely under him. Their lives had been lavish and expensive, a dream compared to others that lived in France in squalor. As the revolution broke out and things became more serious, Louis's family realized that it would be best for them to leave the country. As Louis's father stayed at the king's side and eventually became imprisoned along with his mother, Louis took great care of his younger sister while they awaited their parent's judgement. Their mother was lucky and had been freed after questioning, but their father stayed imprisoned at the King's side and eventually was executed. After traveling for a number of years, the Delacroix family found comfort in Hemlock Park, where Louis found he would best thrive in his business surrounded by English aristocracy. When not working, Louis enjoys spending time with his sister or having a drink with a number of people he has developed friendships with. A fiercely protective man, Louis is also soft tempered unless provoked. *THADDEUS HUXLEY (deceased)
AGE: 36 FC: Hugh Jackman As a second and last born son, Thaddeus never expected to assume the title of Baron of Reading or his families estate. He instead invested in a lumber company, eventually making it his own and creating a business empire. However, just as his company reached new heights he received news that his older brother had died. His brother had been a disagreeable man, all of the charm and social skills having fallen to Thaddeus, so it was suspected that his brother died from unnatural causes. A man of the people, Thaddeus gets along with just about everyone and certainly knows his way around any conversation. Finding a wife had been easy, finding a partner in the eldest Greengrass daughter Louisa. Together they are the pinochle of society, frequenting events both to socialize and for Thaddeus to find new investments for his company. LORENZO "ENZO" ALTOVITI

Edmund became best of friends with Samuel, they were thick as thieves- except for when they weren't. Sir Wiley would unknowingly play the game of favorites, often pitting the boys against each other. Samuel and Edmund had planned to enlist together, but after a huge fallout at sixteen, Edmund left without saying a word and enlisted in the British Royal Army on his own. AGE: 29 FC: Oscar Isaac The second son to the former Viscount Hereford, Patrick never expected to be thrust into the shoes of his father and thus, hardly prepared. However, when both his father and brother Anthony were lost at sea on a holiday voyage to Greece, Patrick was met with a harsh new reality just as he turned twenty-six. At his mother's behest, he settled and found himself a wife in Abigail Morris after two years of adjusting to his newfound responsibility. It was not romantic by any means, but a strong match of assets. Though, who is to say that something cannot blossom from this arrangement? As for his passions, just as his wife has interests, he has his own. The viscount before being titled had amassed something of an art collection, and now he has opened a picture gallery for all to enjoy and for a price, he can be persuaded to part with pieces here and there, or at one of his wife's charity events. HARVEY DESHMUKH
AGE: 25 FC: Dev Patel For Harvey, it seems that time is a theme for his life. An avid pocket-watch collector, one of Harvey's hobbies is finding broken ones and fixing them- as if giving time lost back to life. Constantly being told time is running out by his Viscount father and grandmother, his large family is always asking when Harvey will find a wife and settle down. Having one older brother and two younger, along with four younger sisters, many look up to Harvey while their father and oldest brother are away. Responsibility had never been something Harvey wanted, the thought of others looking up to him making him rather nervous. But, with his father's sudden illness, can Harvey step up and gain the confidence that so many have for him? An avid chess player and lover of the sciences, Harvey much prefers a quiet night in rather than out and about. But, with his older brother's sudden interest to bring him out to society more, will Harvey learn to enjoy it and have some fun? REBECCA FOX
AGE: 21 FC: Emily Blunt The only daughter of doting parents, Rebecca boasts a large dowry. Ever since she was born she was treated to the finest the world had to offer. Numerous foreign governesses to teach her, the best cooks to make her anything she wished, loyal maids to wait on her hand and foot. After her mother realized there was no hope in conceiving another child, they have been dedicated to giving her the best. Rebecca knows that’s what she deserves and expects no less. If she ever got a brother, she’d be upset no end. Rebecca is friendly and warm with those she likes, but cold with those she doesn’t. She loves a good ball or party, is fond of drinking and doesn’t mind flirting with the gents. As a woman she has little interest in politics and the ongoing tragedy in the world, despite her charity work, but the arrival of French nobility has certainly turned her head. LAWRENCE WEATHERBY
AGE: 25 FC: Seth Numrich First Lieutenant in the British Royal Navy and third son to a Baron, Lawrence always grew up feeling the need to show his worth. THEODOSIA CAMPBELL
AGE: 21 FC: Lily Sacofsky Naturally a soft spoken young woman, Theodosia has been invited to stay with her aunt and uncle, the Doyle family while her own parents travel to Ireland for business. Every bit the perfect lady that her parents and governesses trained her to be, she is quite the opposite in fact compared to her cousin Gemma in ways. While her cousin is hesitant for marriage, Theo is on the hunt to find the perfect suitor and match to make her family proud. A sometimes clumsy and gullible character, she always seems to find herself in the most interesting situations. Will her third year out in society help Theo to find what she is looking for? What sorts of situations will this young woman find herself in? CHRISTOPHER DAVIES
AGE: 23 FC: Tom Holland A usually nervous man by nature, Christopher is the quietest of his friend group and family. Best friend to Nicholas Wentworth, the two are usually found together in whatever adventures they seem to find themselves in. RICHARD MOUNT PEARSON
Age: 28 FC: Tom Bateman Son of the Earl of Sheffield, Richard grew up with all the finery one could expect. With his father also a military man, though, his focus has always been on raising through the ranks rather than on lands and estates and all the things the gentry get up to. Currently he stands a Captain of the British Army, leading a group of cavalrymen. After fighting during the French Revolution, Richard has given himself time off from the ongoing battles overseas, under the guise that he is injured. He and his closest colleagues aren’t afraid of a bribe or two. His past time usually consists of relaxing with his mates in the barracks near Hemlock, going to bars and clubs to drink and gamble - something he is rather skilled in - or heading out to various social events the military have been invited to. Richard is a headstrong man, sarcastic and charming, yet with a short temper. He loves to joke around, even if it’s at the expense of others. In times of stress, he often gets angry and is blameful of those around him. Richard can be warm and gentle, too. He loves attention from the ladies and can play the romantic. His favourite women are those with the most money, another driving force in his life. ROSALIE WEATHERBY (NEE. HYDE)
AGE: 19 FC: Ellie Bamber Earl of Rochester STELLA EMERSON
AGE: 17 FC: Eloise Smyth A rather quiet girl, Stella has always been a hidden gem in the shadows while her brother Abel took the spotlight. From her mother's coddling growing up though, Stella is itching to see and do more in society. Having learned how to play the card tables from her brother, but also growing a love of poetry and education from her other brother, Stella is quite smart in a wide range of things, except for love. Stella dreams for the day that she falls in love, but when will it happen? Stella is heavily protected by both of her brothers, though she shares a deeper bond with Albus, the two are always spending time with one another while Abel is out. With her wit and innocent sense of beauty, will Stella get in trouble and become a socialite that is written about in the Hemlock Chronicles just like Abel? Or will she continue to live in the shadows as she always has, educating herself more as Albus always helped her with. But just maybe, while she learns the ins and outs of Hemlock and the society she is a part of, Stella will find her true self and come out of hiding behind her brothers. ANTHONY BARRINGTON
AGE: 25 FC: Dan Stevens Son to an Earl, Anthony has grown up in an inner circle of aristocratic children just like himself. Though he isn' t one to show it off, Anthony is just as privileged as his friends and enjoys the riches that his life comes with. A more down to earth fellow, he enjoys kicking back with his mates and having a drink by the fire or playing a round of cards with a cigar between his lips. A fan of horse racing, he has recently taken up the business of breeding horses and steeds. When not busy building his empire and helping his father with their other work, Anthony quite enjoys reading and relaxing. Good at one liners and making his friends laugh, Anthony is always a guaranteed good time and rarely is a part of the drama that many of his friends have. Though he is not confrontational, when provoked Anthony does has an angry side to him that he rather wouldn't show. A good friend to Ronan Archibald, the two are seen around the town with one another quite a bit. OPHELIA ROSEWOOD
AGE: 20 FC: Gugu Mbatha-Raw An illegitimate child of Lord Rosewood, Ophelia has always felt like she was on the outskirts of the lifestyle she now has. Ophelia has only vague memories of living with her lower middle class family before her mother's passing when she was just five years old. After the death of her mother, Ophelia was whisked away to Hemlock to live with her father, who she had never meant before that day. Though Lord Rosewood was never a doting or loving man, he and Ophelia did find some sort of respect for one another after time. Having been given all the proper schooling and lessons as any upper class woman would have, Ophelia knows the ins and outs of this upper class life she now has. Having always felt like an outsider with her half siblings, she still feels it to this day, even sometimes with her friends. But, when she is comfortable with someone, Ophelia is quite kind and caring. She is a very loyal friend who would do anything to help another. Will Ophelia always let the fact that she isn't a true high born woman bother her and make her insecure of her surroundings? Or will she finally rise above it and become comfortable with the life she has now? ALEXEI VORONSTROV
AGE: 19 FC: Ben Barnes Born to Count Vladimir Voronstov, the new Russian ambassador to the English throne, Alexei is reserved in comparison to twin sister Arina (by Hemlock standards at least). He prefers the propriety of English society as opposed to the constant excitement and slightly chaotic air of the court he was brought up in. Much of his free time is spent studying cartography as well as shadowing the work his father does. Arina tends to bring out his more rambunctious side when she forces him to attend functions and act as her chaperone at the behest of their father. ARINA VORONSTROV

Age: FC: Annabel Scholey FREDERICK SHARPE
AGE: 34 FC: Richard Armitage Frederick Sharpe, the founder of the Sharpe Trading Company was born into a less than upper class family and was always known to be of a quiet nature despite his tenacity in climbing the proverbial ladder of the business world. Though he is without a proper title, his company upon starting did well enough to catch the eyes of those in London's high society, namely his late wife, Joanna. Following Joanna's death, an illness the doctors could not name, rumors began. Many said that it was Frederick who killed his wife, that he had poisoned her slowly and left her to wither. As he never commented on the matter and withdrew into his work, the rumors only festered. Now, more so than ever, Sharpe has vanished from the bustling society of Hemlock Park only to be seen at a gathering every now and then. Though, perhaps beneath the the newly roughened exterior and gossip of his neighbors there is something to be found. . but would anyone dare to bring him back into the light? DR. SAMUEL WILEY
AGE: 27 FC: Sam Claflin Sam's mother died bringing him into the world, quickly bleeding out after doctors tried to stop a hemorrhage with bloodletting. It was due to to the needless loss of his mother that he failed to join the military, instead journeying to become a doctor and travel around the world to learn different, more effective methods of medicine than the accepted ones he is sure were the true cause of his mother's death. His father has always blamed him for her death, which certainly would explain his father's closeness to the family ward, whom he would have called his brother, Edmund Acton. Samuel felt robbed of his life the moment Edmund left, leaving Samuel to care for his now somewhat deranged father and put an end to his travels. He holds a great resentment towards Edmund for his actions which forced Sam to make a sacrifice. When he can get away, Samuel can be found out partying and gambling beside the Emerson brothers. Sure, Abel Emerson can be bad enough, but put these three together and there is no telling where the night might go. Hopefully that dark side doesn't get him in too much trouble. MARY ASHCROFT
AGE: 19 FC: Nicola Coughlan Mary has always worn her heart on her sleeve. Ever since she was young, Mary has always put other's feelings above hers and has done anything she can to make others happy. As the daughter of a Count, Mary took great interest in her education, particularly in her art. An avid painter and sewer, Mary can often be found spending time in the gardens with her dear friend Adella painting while Adella gossips. A soft spoken young lady, Mary is in love with the idea of love. She hopes to one day marry not for the money and allegiances that her father speaks of, but for the love she shares with someone. When not with Adella or Colette, Mary finds herself spending time with Helena discussing charity work. Mary takes great care in her love for charity and helping others, including caring for her friends when they need it. Will the inner circles and rumors and scandals of Hemlock make Mary realize that not everyone is good? Will Mary end up in her own puddle of rumors that rock her world? Sometimes being too nice can turn around to bite you. HUGO PRIMROSE
Age: 31 FC: Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ A lover of wine, finery and fencing, Hugo spends his time between the affluent Hemlock Park and his homes in Scotland while living out his life as illustrious and memorable as he can. With old family money and a prosperous new business in textiles, Hugo seems to be in the prime of his life as the Earl of Roseberry. But, will Hugo fly too close to the sun and burn? Naturally a driven and competitive man, Hugo will do whatever it takes to ensure his name and business come out on top. Wildly charming and sociable, when not working Hugo can be found at all the parties and even at the Valerian with his friends. Known to have a temper at times, his usual cheerful tempter can change in the blink of an eye if instigated. Just how far will Hugo go to ensure his business and reputation stay in the limelight? Will his temper get the best of him? CONRAD SEYMOUR
AGE: 25 FC: Callum Turner ARTHUR ATWOOD
Age: 43 FC: Alan Rickman LUCY ATWOOD
AGE: 20 FC: Eleanor Tomlinson JANE WILLOUGHBY
AGE: 19 FC: Lily Collins EMILY NIGHTINGALE
Age: 21 FC: Amber Anderson Emily is a quiet and mysterious individual although there's not much to it. Born to a hastily married couple in light of Emily's impending birth, she was raised by them until her third year whey both died at sea. After their deaths, the court of Chancery placed her in the wardship of her maternal aunt and uncle who were desperate to have children of their own. It did not take long before they started to have their own, however, and it was from here that Emily began to feel unloved and ignored. With five new cousins, she was shunned from the spotlight and took to her life quietly and capably. She became extremely well accomplished, dedicating her time to studies. Any chance of goodness in her life was snatched away from her. Potential suitors were drawn away by her guardians, her time impressing people cut short. It was cruel justice when the entire family perished in a fire while she was visiting a friend. Now orphaned twice, Emily was sent on to live in the care of her nearest male relative who inherited the estates of her aunt and uncle. Since then, she lived with his family, sometimes travelling with them and other times staying put. While she can be - and often appears to be - a sweet and shy young woman, Emily can actually be quite callous and spiteful. To cope with the lack of love around her growing up, she taught herself to push people away in order to protect herself, also in part for being indoctrinated to thinking that's what she deserved. She can be catty because of her jealousy but at heart she's a lonely young woman dealt a bad hand in life. ROWAN DRAKE
Age: 38 FC: Toby Stephens Rowan Drake was born at sea and hopes to die there too. The story goes that his mother was a highborn lady who stowed away on a goods ship where she died giving birth to him - whether its true or not is another thing. With no family, he was raised by the dockers and their families as a collective, having no one true home. He soon started work in the dockyards and eventually on the ships, working his way through various jobs and ranks, from simply working on the decks to boatswain and so on. Rowan was adept at seafaring and fell into the lap of the Royal Navy early on. By his late twenties he was warranted to the Navy as a ship's master working alongside various captains. During his time in the Navy he met and befriended Amos Hargrove and Lawrence Weatherby, serving alongside the two on various vessels. He's cheeky, he's charming, he has become well accustomed to the life the navy allows, although he never forgets his roots. Though safe in some spaces, he keeps his interest in men on the quiet. Rowan prefers men to women but is attracted to both and revels in flirting with whoever takes his fancy. At times, he feels out of his depth, having the same social status as the gentry, but he tries his best to keep up with his friends. PHILLIP HAWTHORNE
AGE: 35 FC: Gerard Butler Born into a life of charm and appeal, Philip inherited the title of his father, The Marquess of Halifax, at 28. Embracing the social ties of holding a title, Phillip was content to wile his nights away on parties or evenings at the opera. Though as is expected of any man of means, Phillip soon married advantageously to strengthen his family line. Unfortunately, she bore no children in their year of marriage, his legacy being cut short when a fire caught amidst one of the family’s country homes. The inferno engulfed not only the building’s history, but any hope of an heir when the life of his young bride was claimed. As if these losses were not enough, Phillip suffered terrible burns to the right side of his face and arm in his fruitless attempts to rescue his wife. From a place of fear and shame, the Marquess cut himself off from the world. Determined to ensure his wounds not be seen by those that knew him before, he hid away in the country beneath a mask, healing… until now. What will come of his return to London? Will those who knew the old Phillip embrace the man behind the mask, or will he even allow visitors into his home to find out? SILAS THORNTON
Age: 34 FC: Joe Armstrong Silas was not born rich, being one of four surviving children of a mistreated clerk and his wife, he grew up with very little. However, it was because of this that he grew determined and worked hard so he could build a stable life of his own. Silas sought work wherever he could from a young age, eventually being taken under the wing of a stern businessman who taught him all the valuable skills he needed to make it in the world. After his father fell to alcoholism, Silas started helping with the bookkeeping work whenever he could, but eventually his father was found out and fired for bad conduct. His employer was impressed by Silas however and, though he would never employ a Thornton man again, recommended him to an acquaintance. From there his journey through the ranks began. Though he jumped from company to company, there was always a promotion to be had and soon he was rubbing shoulders with upper class gentlemen, working for them and eventually alongside them. He soon found himself working with a powerful Duke and became a trusted ally, being hired officially as his steward. Though he does perform his duties, his role expands farther than that. Silas keeps everything and everyone quiet. He's the man that checks in, that clears up, that keeps a very close eye and then some. His place in society as a gentleman is solidified by the seat in parliament he takes on behalf of his employer, and if he keeps up the hard work and loyalties, a Barony is sure to be on the cards. No longer in contact with his siblings after the death of his parents (they were never close and he'd never share his success) Silas is unafraid to cut ties or make a bad situation worse, but will his new residency in Hemlock Park unravel the life and person he's become? Currently his employer has him keeping an eye of the Lamonte family to eventually make a move on their debts. |
LOWER CLASS RESIDENTS
SOPHIE WILSON
Age: 19 FC: Saoirse Ronan Sophie has known both great happiness and deep sorrow in equal measure. She had a golden childhood, growing up very close with her family. Her parents both worked hard -Marie as a seamstress and Ichabod as Butler to the Wentworths- so Sophie and her older brother Matthew were always provided for and well taken care of. She even found friendships within the household her father ran, occasionally coming to work with Ichabod to play with the many children there, especially Josephine. But, when she was 12 years old, Sophie's mother died, and the fairytale spell was broken. Her father never loved again, mourning Marie for the rest of his days. Little did he know those days were numbered, as Ichabod struck ill less than 3 years later, and followed his wife to the grave shortly after Sophie turned 15. An orphan left in the care of her brother, Sophie's sibling bond with Matthew was solidified. Feeling pity for the Wilson children left behind by his long-time Butler and friend, Richard Wentworth found Matthew work as a farmer, so he could provide for himself and Sophie. Now 18, Sophie felt okay again, and the future ahead seemed brighter once more... but Sophie's hardships were far from over. Unbeknownst to Sophie, Matthew had come down with the same illness that took their father. He took pains to fight and hide it from his sister who had already lost everyone else, but was forced to share the truth with Sophie when his health began to rapidly decline. He only got worse, and in his last moments Sophie sat at his bedside, holding his hand and singing Marie's favorite lullaby. Now well and truly alone in the world, the Wentworth household has taken her in as Lady's maid to her childhood friend Josephine. Will Sophie be able to escape the ghosts of her past, or will she be haunted by tragedy her whole life? EDWARD DAWSON

LINDEN CAREW
Age: 27 FC: Matthias Schoenaerts Lin was named for the linnets that lived on the family farm that sang songs to his mother while she carried him. His name is the only tie he has left to his home - they were too poor to pay rent to the landowner, so the family were kicked out and left to find work elsewhere. Despite misgivings after how they were treated, his father found work at a country estate thinking he’d bide time taking up the position of groom. Unfortunately his father died a few years later, and his mother followed not long after. Lin stayed on, however, and ended up working for multiple families before finding the secure place working for the Cavendish family, as groom/coachman. He bears little ill will to those of a higher status, all he cares about is good honest work, but he cannot abide being looked down upon. He will talk to anyone who wishes to converse, he is amiable and well liked amongst the servants, but generally keeps to himself. Lin cares very much for the horses he tends to and is currently interested in reading more, to learn more than his parents taught him. He is trustworthy and good at his job. CLAIRE WILTON
